School Volunteers
We welcome both parent and community volunteers in our schools. However, in order to provide a safe learning environment and in compliance with state law, all school volunteers in the Murray City School District are subject to an online database criminal background check. Please fill out this Volunteer Form at the start of each school year if you are interested in volunteering at Viewmont Elementary School.
Furthermore, and as determined by the school administrator, volunteers who have unsupervised access to students are required to complete a full background check by agreeing to have their fingerprints taken and signing a document of acknowledgement and waiver permitting the District to request a background check and ongoing monitoring of any state or federal criminal history file that the District might deem applicable as a condition of volunteering.

The SafeUT program is a free, confidential, and anonymous crisis chat and tip line that provides immediate support to students, parents, and educators in Utah. Available 24/7, 365 days a year, the service is staffed by licensed mental health professionals from the University of Utah's Huntsman Mental Health Institute. Through the SafeUT app or website, users can start a chat with a counselor, submit a tip about safety concerns like bullying or self-harm, and receive real-time crisis intervention for issues big or small. The program's goal is to offer a safe space for people to get help with mental health challenges, emotional crises, and safety concerns, ultimately working to prevent suicide and violence in schools.
